The Worralls Go West: Day 5 (Yellowstone)

August 3, 2016

So…yesterday morning we woke up to find ourselves here: Tatum’s Haven doesn’t look like much from the outside. But the inside is adorable and the setting is idyllic. This is the remote cabin experience that I wanted us to have while out in the Wild West. We ate breakfast on the porch and then explored… Read More The Worralls Go West: Day 5 (Yellowstone)

The Worralls Go West: Day 4

August 2, 2016

Yesterday was a long driving day—all the way across the state of Wyoming, the tenth largest state in the country, but also the least populated. In the morning, before we left Hill City (SD), we decided to try our hand at geocaching since there was an easy geocache located in the Hill City Cemetery. If you aren’t… Read More The Worralls Go West: Day 4

The Worralls Go West: Day 3 (Best Laid Plans)

August 1, 2016

In order for you to understand what happened yesterday, you need to know a couple of things about us. Number one. When Peter is on vacation, he hates to have a plan. He doesn’t want to HAVE to be anywhere at any particular time. He wants the freedom to experience whatever comes along, for… Read More The Worralls Go West: Day 3 (Best Laid Plans)

The Worralls Go West: Day 2

July 31, 2016

This morning we drove two hours west from Marshall, Minnesota, to De Smet, South Dakota, where we spent most of the day exploring the little town and the surrounding prairie. The Ingalls family moved west to De Smet when grasshoppers destroyed their wheat crop in Minnesota. Pa got a job working for the railroad. He… Read More The Worralls Go West: Day 2

The Worralls Go West: Day 1

July 30, 2016

The vision for this little vacay began when we were invited to a family wedding in Keystone, CO, on August 5-7, and we decided to turn it into a road trip. The vision expanded and coalesced back in June when I decided that this was the summer to introduce the kids to Little House on… Read More The Worralls Go West: Day 1

For My Daughter on Her Birthday

July 18, 2016

It’s your birthday—my darling daughter! Can it really be—that you’ve been spreading your unique version of joy on this planet for five whole years? I’ve known you for four and a half of those. But I have loved you for far longer than that. You were born in my heart many years before you… Read More For My Daughter on Her Birthday

Conversation Matters

July 12, 2016

A part of my job every semester is to teach a class called Speech Communication. It’s a required course for all of our undergraduate students, so I’m well aware that some of them arrive in my classroom with apathy, some with nervousness, some even with a measure of dread. After all, “Public Speaking” appears on… Read More Conversation Matters

Making Sense of Suddenly Slammed Doors

July 1, 2016

One week ago life was falling nicely into place. On June 15 we signed a contract to sell our home on Green Street. The price was agreeable. We survived the inspection. And we set about to make the requested repairs. The only variable still in negotiation was the fireplace. So in the midst of scheduling… Read More Making Sense of Suddenly Slammed Doors

Lift Up Your Eyes

June 16, 2016

I asked God for a house showing. I didn’t pray for a contract. I didn’t need an offer. Just one showing would do. It seemed to me like a simple fleece.   Let me back up a minute. You might remember that in February we started to homeschool our son, Daryl (7). (Hence, my three-month… Read More Lift Up Your Eyes

We’re Homeschooling. Here’s Why.

March 16, 2016

When I wrote about “the call of God” back in December, I had no idea that He was going to call our family to a new adventure quite so soon. Funny, how He softens our hearts so specifically sometimes. This particular call didn’t come in the form of a burning bush. No blinding light from… Read More We’re Homeschooling. Here’s Why.
